Our Goals and Strategic Commitments

Associazione dei Confidi della Lombardia is driven by a clear and enduring mission: to ensure that creditworthy businesses in Lombardy are never denied growth opportunities due to structural barriers in the credit market. Our strategic goals reflect both our immediate responsibilities to current members and our longer-term ambitions to expand the reach and impact of cooperative credit guarantees across the region. We believe that strong SMEs are the foundation of a resilient regional economy, and every guarantee we issue is a concrete investment in that foundation. The following goals guide our operational priorities and institutional development in the years ahead.

Many viable businesses in Lombardy still lack access to adequate credit, particularly in rural areas, emerging sectors, and among businesses led by younger entrepreneurs. We are committed to actively extending our outreach and developing guarantee products tailored to these underserved segments.

A larger and more diverse membership base strengthens the mutual guarantee pool, increases our collective negotiating power with lenders, and broadens the range of sectors we can effectively serve. We pursue membership growth through direct engagement with business associations and chambers of commerce across Lombardy.

By growing our own capital base and deepening relationships with counter-guarantee providers, we aim to increase the total volume of guarantees we can issue annually. Higher volumes mean more businesses financed and a greater overall impact on the regional economy.

We are committed to maintaining capital ratios that exceed regulatory requirements, ensuring the long-term reliability of our guarantees. A well-capitalised association is one that lenders trust unconditionally, and that trust is the foundation of everything we do for our members.

We are investing in digital platforms that will allow member businesses to submit applications, track guarantee status, and access advisory services online with greater speed and transparency. Modernising our processes reduces administrative burden for all parties and accelerates access to financing.

Operating in a regulated financial environment requires continuous attention to evolving supervisory requirements. We maintain a dedicated compliance function that monitors regulatory developments and ensures that our guarantee instruments and processes remain fully aligned with applicable standards.

We actively collaborate with regional government bodies, development agencies, and chambers of commerce to align our guarantee programs with broader economic development priorities in Lombardy. These partnerships allow us to co-design instruments that address specific market failures and sectoral needs.

Many SMEs lack the financial knowledge needed to navigate the credit market effectively. We invest in educational initiatives, workshops, and published resources that help business owners understand financing options, credit scoring, and the role of guarantees in improving their access to capital.

We are developing specific guarantee lines for businesses investing in sustainability, energy efficiency, and digital transformation. These priority areas receive particular attention within our advisory services and are aligned with European funding programs that offer additional financial incentives.
